Recently, I was engaged in a conversation with my friend. I was telling her about my difficulty in finding a job. She asked me what have I do, and if I have made every effort to find a job. I said yes to all of her questions. Then she asked me a question that open my eyes. She asked, "Have you asked God for a job?" I was about to say yes, but then I realised I never really asked God for a job. I always asked God to guide me in my efforts but never ask him to provide for me. My friend said, remember "Ask and you shall received"
Now, I was just discussing that with my aunt and she point out something interesting. She said without effort, its useless to only ask. God provides for those who have put in the effort, not for those who only know how to ask. Then she said "Ora et Labora" ("Pray and work").
So, we have to know the balance between asking and the effort we put in. Asking without effort will not work, so does effort without asking. In the end, we all should always remember, "Ora et Labora"
